Here’s my story:

I fell into marketing. I was just an innocent scribe, a free agent writing about food and music, penning for a nonprofit, and editing craft books and novels.  

Then I became a proofreader for the Crisis Prevention Institute, and my life changed. Not only was I now an in-house employee, the position happened to be in the marketing department. I spent two glorious years editing wise content on how to help vulnerable people. 

And I learned loads of things I never knew, such as:

Marketing doesn’t have to be manipulative, sleazy, dishonest, or fake. Marketing can be about educating, entertaining, and inspiring. Building a community, and selling something that helps people.

CPI taught me how that works. So when my boss offered me a copywriting job, I seized it like the day.

I spent the next 5 years leading web copy and persuading people to buy a service that helps them do good.

I studied the art of honest persuasion and the science of non-slimy selling like I was getting a Ph.D.

I devoured content marketing courses and conferences like they were garlic naan. (I’ve been gluten-free for 17 years, but I dream of devouring garlic naan.) 

And as I built our content strategy, we saw more and more success with generating and nurturing leads...

by creating resources that help people. It was right in line with the mission of our company.

Along the way, I gained skills in SEO, conversion rate optimization, user experience, and guiding visuals so copy and design marry like rock ’n roll. 🎸

In 2015, I earned Certified Content Marketer status from Copyblogger. I’ve been thrilled to be part of their community of pros ever since.

In 2017, I was ready to bring my chops to more businesses that want to do good with good marketing.

Family emergencies and a soul yearning for freedom propelled me to leave a job I loved...to start a business I love. 

Now I continue to train with A-list copywriters like Brian Clark, Sonia Simone, and Joanna Wiebe. And I’m stoked to have the skills to speak to your customers' deepest needs (in an honest, true, non-manipulative way) so they pull out their credit cards and say . . .
